Career prospects for refugees at FRÖBEL

FRÖBEL is of the conviction that refugee children and families must be admitted to educational institutions quickly and effortlessly. For many years now, FRÖBEL centres have been offering migrant and refugee children and families an environment in which they are made to feel welcome.

But adults must also be integrated into the job market as quickly as possible. In light of developments in autumn 2015, the FRÖBEL e.V. Supervisory Board decided to strengthen the company’s commitment to refugees and to provide pedagogically trained adults with career prospects. In an increasingly diverse society, which is also reflected in our centres, everyone can benefit from this.

It is our goal to hire educational staff with a refugee background for our FRÖBEL centres on a long-term basis using lateral entry models and on-the-job training. We have already been able to welcome the first interns with a refugee background at FRÖBEL kindergartens in Potsdam, Berlin, Essen, Frankfurt an der Oder, Cologne and Munich. In September 2016, our first new colleague with a refugee background started her on-the-job training in Berlin.

In October 2016 we started a pedagogical orientation course for refugees in Berlin in cooperation with the Gesellschaft für interkulturelles Zusammenleben GIZ e. V. and the sponsor work group “Fachkräfte mit Fluchterfahrung”. A pedagogical language course is part of the programme. On successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate and, based on a comprehensive pedagogical competence analysis, a recommendation for their personal training path.

From September 2017, the pedagogical orientation course will be continued in cooperation between GIZ e.V. and the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband in Berlin. FRÖBEL continues to actively participate as a provider of praxis services. Together, we are thus opening up a professional perspective for other specialists with a migration / migration experience.
