Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel

FRÖBEL takes its name from Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel. Generally regarded as the ‘father of the kindergarten’, a pioneer of educational reform, international advocate of new ideas and tireless campaigner for the right of children to education and guidance and to a harmonious family life, Fröbel was a visionary whose name and work are undervalued and little known. Nevertheless, much of what Fröbel initiated is still shapes our notions of childrearing today.

His goal was to raise independent, responsible human beings, and his desire was to achieve this goal holistically, taking account of children’s needs – and in partnership with their parents. This is our desire too. We view the name FRÖBEL as an obligation and incentive to prove worthy of a great responsibility.
