English Speaking Early Childhood Educators (m/f/d) for Fröbel Kindergarten Waterkant (Berlin-Spandau)

Would you like to help build and truly live a bilingual early childhood concept from day one - together with a new team, in a bright, modern centre close to the Havel and green spaces? Then join Fröbel Kindergarten Waterkant in Berlin-Spandau.

Position: English-speaking Early Childhood Educator (m/f/d)
Location: Berlin-Spandau (Waterkant neighbourhood)
Start: from 1 July 2026 (opening planned)
Hours: 30–39 hours/week
Contract: permanent/open-ended

We are currently looking for English native-level early childhood professionals who want to shape high-quality education and care - and who identify with Fröbel and our values.

About Fröbel Kindergarten Waterkant

Fröbel Kindergarten Waterkant will care for 80 children aged one year to school entry and is expected to open on 1 July 2026. The team will consist of around 14 colleagues, with roughly one third English-speaking educators, creating a strong foundation for bilingual practice in everyday life.

The centre is located in a new residential area in Spandau, on the ground floor with all rooms on one level - bright, welcoming and designed for open learning with a nest (crèche) and elementary area. A large natural garden is planned. Waterkant will also have its own kitchen, providing freshly cooked vegetarian meals and a modern concept such as a children’s restaurant. The centre is not in the city centre; a bus stop is about a five-minute walk away.

Your responsibilities

In this role, you will (independently or with support depending on your experience and qualification):

  • Support all aspects of early childhood education and care in English, embedding language naturally in play, routines and projects
  • Take responsibility for (or support) the settling-in process, ensuring a trusting, secure start for children and families
  • Plan, implement and document pedagogical processes and daily routines as part of a team
  • Carry out (or support) structured observation and documentation of children’s development and learning processes
  • Build strong, respectful cooperation with parents, communicating clearly and reliably in an international context

This position is part of Fröbel’s focus on bilingual education and high-quality pedagogical practice.

What you bring

  • English at native / native-like level
  • German at least B2 level
  • Recognition as a qualified early childhood professional in Berlin (e.g., state-recognised educator / early childhood pedagogue, or comparable qualification)
  • Enthusiasm for bilingual education, teamwork and reflective practice
  • A warm, responsible and collaborative working style

International applicants: Ideally you already live in Germany (preferably Berlin). If you are a third-country national, a work permit is welcome; if you do not yet have it at the time of application, please still apply so we can clarify options together.

What we offer

We offer you a responsible and varied role in an innovative organisation that puts children’s rights at the centre - plus strong professional support and attractive benefits.

In addition, you can expect:

  • Innovative, team-based working practices that enable children to encounter new languages at an early age
  • Intensive guidance from English-speaking consultants and bilingual education working groups
  • Room to develop your own ideas and projects
  • Further education programmes with more than 1,000 Fröbel-financed training opportunities

  • Job shadowing and exchange opportunities with Fröbel centres in Germany and abroad (Australia) as well as Erasmus educational trips within Europe
  • Salary according to the Fröbel in-house wage agreement (includes further training/education for advancement), fixed preparation and follow-up times, and options for reduced working hours for older employees
  • 33 days of holiday per year plus 24 and 31 December as paid days off
  • Choose between a €46.55 subsidy for the Deutschlandticket and a €50 Fröbel BenefitCard*, or up to €99 mobility allowance for a JobRad* (pro rata for part-time employees)
